BRIDGE is a cooperation group of Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands and Digitalisation H2020 projects. The annual BRIDGE General Assembly will be held online the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of March 2021. It will be the occasion to present the latest activities by the BRIDGE Working Groups and Task Forces during the last period, as well as discover the new BRIDGE projects and hear about the results and lessons learned from ended projects.

Danish politicians approved a project to build the world's first energy island supplying three million households with energy from the offshore wind power.

With the size of 18 football pitches, the energy island will be historically the biggest construction project in Denmark. The hub for 200 giant offshore wind turbines will be situated 80km out to the North Sea, most probably in the area west of the Jutland coast.

NESOI invites energy initiatives on islands to enroll for a free online course on community energy ownership organised by Friends of the Earth Europe.

The 19th edition of the EU Regions Week is set to take place on 11-14 October looks to address the  key themes of Green Transition, Cohesion, Digital transition and Citizens engagement.

Do you know that there are more than 2200 inhabited islands in the EU?

Despite having access to renewable sources of energy, such as wind, sun and wave energy, many of them depend on expensive fossil fuel imports for their energy supply.

Between the 26th and 29th of October the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat will be hosting it annual forum. The programme of the online event is focusing on the linkages between the EU institutions and the local actions on the islands.

Representatives from the institutions will present their particular role in creating the enabling framework for the decarbonisation of EU Islands. Furthermore, local actions will be presented and discussed online with inspirations starting from the host islands and gradually broadened to all parts of the EU island community.
