NESOI and the Clean Islands Secretariat will be jointly hosting a session at this year’s EU Regions Week on the 14th October, 2021 at 9.30 AM CET.

How can islands be powerful drivers of Europe’s clean energy transition? Find out by joining the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat and the EU Island facility -NESOI with the participation of local authorities and EU decision-makers.

Islands across the EU have long been frontrunners in engaging all relevant local stakeholders in their clean energy transition process. In this context, the session will illustrate several tools and networks that can support islands in their energy transition ambitions aiding them in their journeys towards net zero.

The EU Islands secretariat will present its transition agenda framework, its innovative islands marketplace and the technical assistance offered, while NESOI will present the results of its first open call, making a synopsis on the progress of funded islands so far, and talk about future funding opportunities.

Experts involved in the realisation of transition projects will share best-practice examples, highlighting specific methods employed in the areas of planning, financing and community engagement.
