Hybrid Systems in Islands - New Energy Solutions Optimised for Islands

Europe has set ambitious targets to increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and raise the share of renewable energy. Nonetheless, the scenery of the South-Eastern European region with multiple changing geopolitical and social conditions, poses serious questions, challenges, and opportunities for countries, industries, professionals, and academics.

The Energy Transition Symposium organised by HELLENIC ASSOCIATION FOR ENERGY ECONOMICS (HAEE) focuses on challenging energy, economic and environmental issues and aims at providing an international forum for the exchange of ideas, research results, and experiences among experts and professionals engaged in academic, business, government, national and international organizations.

The Symposium anticipates more than 30 academic paper presentations and more than 100 plenary speakers. Participation from the energy industry, government, and academic energy economists will enrich a set of robust, diverse, and insightful discussions.

NESOI coordinator, Andrea Martinez, has already confirmed his participation as a speaker in a dedicated session on islands' energy transition, entitled "Hybrid Systems in Islands - New Energy Solutions Optimised for Islands".

HELLENIC ASSOCIATION FOR ENERGY ECONOMICS (HAEE)'s forthcoming 5th Energy Transition Symposium is scheduled from 30 September to 2 October in Athens. The annual symposium is a landmark event in Greece and the broader SE European region that provides a top of the line international platform for academics, policymakers and business leaders to exchange views and discuss the latest critical energy issues. For a general overview of the 3-day Symposium, you can register here and watch online the Symposium's sessions.
